Step Five: The technician shows the product listing in the RIPS manual to the customer. He informs the customer that according to the manual the repair, which includes warranty, will be $440.33. At this point the customer can choose to proceed with the repair or not. If the customer does decide to authorize the repair, the total cost of the repair will be the quoted amount, plus a diagnostic charge (which you the contractor set) and any applicable taxes.

Step Six: The technician could (and should) also point out that if the customer had had a maintenance contract on this product their price would be considerably lower at $396.30. (Most contractors will honour this price on the repair if the customer signs up for yearly maintenance during the service call.)

The column labelled 'At Same Time Repair' in the product description lists the price if it is necessary to replace a second part on this initial repair. The cost is less as the technician will already have the panels off.
