In order to better acquaint you with the method in which the Reliable Pricing System operates, we have provided a written breakdown of a sample service. This case involves a Carrier furnace and a faulty inducer motor. All pricing used in this scenario are for example purposes only and may not accurately reflect your particular needs.

Step One: Our technician arrives at the residence and proceeds to greet the customer. He confirms the facts of the service call with the customer, ensuring that he understands the reason for his visit.

Step Two: Before beginning inspection of the appliance in question, the technician will leave his RPS manual where the customer can pick it up and leaf through it if they desire.

Step Three: Having diagnosed the product, the technician concludes that the furnace, a Carrier model, requires a new inducer motor. He verifies that the required model is a 58 SX and consults his RPS manual, looking under 'M165' (identified by the manual's convenient tabbing system) with the 'M' representing Motors.

Step Four: The product manufacturers are arranged in each section of the manual by alphabet (e.g.: Amana, Carrier, Coleman, etc.). For this visit, the technician will need to locate the Carrier section and then the SX models. Once he has located the appropriate listing he discovers that he will also need to replace the wheel along with the inducer motor.

 

Step Five: The technician shows the product listing in the RPS manual to the customer. He informs the customer that according to the manual the repair, which includes warranty, will be $440.33. At this point the customer can choose to proceed with the repair or not. If the customer does decide to authorize the repair, the total cost of the repair will be the quoted amount, plus a diagnostic charge (which you the contractor set) and any applicable taxes.

 

Step Six: The technician could (and should) also point out that if the customer had had a maintenance contract on this product their price would be considerably lower at $396.30. (Most contractors will honour this price on the repair if the customer signs up for yearly maintenance during the service call.)

 

 

The column labelled 'At Same Time Repair' in the product description lists the price if it is necessary to replace a second part on this initial repair. The cost is less as the technician will already have the panels off.

 

 

'Additional Repair' is the same as 'At Same Time Repair' but relates to a customer with an existing maintenance contract.

 

 

'Emergency Service' lists overtime charges while 'Overtime Second Repair' applies if another item is required during the emergency service.

Step Seven: Once the customer has authorized the repair they will generally leave the technician to do their work. Unlike a service call dictated by time and material costs, the customer does not feel the need to ensure that the technician is 'doing his job'.

Step Eight: Having completed the repair, the technician cleans the product and the area surrounding it, making sure to leave no mess resulting from the repair work. After collecting the old part(s), the technician leaves them with the customer. He also presents the customer with a business card and asks them to call again for service to this product or any other product that his company may service. Above all, he thanks the customer for calling him and his firm.
